The main goal of this project is to conduct a heat transfer simulation for the NICA-MPD-Platform RACK cabinet, using a new cooling system. The configuration includes a set of two RACKs and one cooling cabinet. During the practice, students will prepare a simple 3D model and conduct a heat transfer simulation for it. Moreover, students will get the general idea of the entire NICA-MPD-Platform project and the issues of temperature stability.
Tasks
• get acquainted with the basic technical documentation of the NICA-MPD-Platform
• prepare a geometry model of typical RACK equipment
• conduct a heat transfer simulation for the model of typical RACK equipment
• compare the simulation results with the measured values
• prepare a geometry model of a RACK with equipment
• prepare a geometry model of a cooling cabinet
• prepare a geometry model of a set of two RACKs and a cooling cabinet
• conduct a heat transfer simulation for the set of two RACKs and a cooling cabinet
• carry out the analysis of the results
• prepare the final report
• prepare the final presentation
Preliminary schedule by topics/tasks
The expected project duration is 4-6 weeks.
The work schedule will be agreed upon with the student(s).
