Optics measurement and correction at the NICA accelerators

NICA accelerator complex is at stage of beam commissioning. Regular beam run is starting, during which measurements of the accelerators linear optics are planned as well as its corrections. The task solution implies measurements with the beam and numerical simulations.

Tasks

Orbit measurements and correction in beam transport lines and accelerators of NICA complex.
Linear optics calculation using measured orbit data.

Preliminary schedule by topics/tasks

6 weeks activity:
Participation in beam measurements.
Using software for beam measurements and correction.
Computation of required hardware parameters for correction of the beam orbit and testing it in control room.
Calculation of linear optics using measured data.
Preparation of report covered the work.

Required skills

Russian language.
Motivation and desire to new knowledge in accelerator physics.
Baseline background in mathematics.
Desirable but not required experience in Python, MachCAD, Tango-control.

Acquired skills and experience

Good mood after several weeks in warm atmosphere with team of JINR accelerator department.
Experience about control and tuning of big modern accelerator complex.
Skills in signal processing, Fourie transform, singular value decomposition, and so.
