Event Shape Variables to study Heavy Ion Collisions at MPD

Event structure variables proved a useful tool in the study of classification of events through its topology. And can help to differentiate between the most central and most peripheral events in MPD experiment.

Tasks

Development of software to measure event shape variables within mpdroot framework. Calculate event shape variables as a function of centrality in heavy ion collisions at NICA energies.

Preliminary schedule by topics/tasks

1st week – Installation and basic use of mpdroot framework.
2nd - 3rd week – Implementation of Event Shape Variables within mpdroot.
4th - 5th week – Analysis of data.
6th week – Writing and presentation of results.

Required skills

Knowledge of C++ and basic ROOT usage.
Basic Knowledge of particle physics.
Good Knowledge of English or Spanish (B2 or higher).
Teamwork.

Acquired skills and experience

The student will acquire experience in C++ programming within the framework of High Energy Physics experiments. He will learn about the topology of events produced in heavy ion collisions. The student will improve their skills of collaborative work.
