The main goal of this project is to conduct a heat transfer simulation for the RACK cabinet. During the practice, students will prepare a simple 3D model and conduct a heat transfer simulation for it. Moreover, students will get a general idea of the entire NICA-MPD-Platform project and temperature stability issues. The project is divided into three parts: 1. Simulation of the cooling unit 2. Simulation of the CAEN crate (typical device mounted inside RACK) 3. Simulation of the flow inside RACK cabinet. As the final step, students will conduct a simulation for the setup of two RACK (fulfilled by electronic) and one cooling unit.
Tasks
• get acquainted with the basic technical documentation of the NICA-MPD-Platform
• prepare a geometry of the cooling unit
• conduct a heat transfer simulation for the model of cooling unit
• prepare a geometry model of a typical CAEN crate
• conduct a heat transfer simulation for the model of typical CAEN crate
• prepare a geometry model of a RACK with equipment
• prepare a geometry model of a set of two RACKs and a cooling cabinet
• conduct a heat transfer simulation for the set of two RACKs and a cooling cabinet
• carry out the analysis of the results
• prepare the final report
Preliminary schedule by topics/tasks
The expected project duration is 4-6 weeks.
The work schedule will be agreed upon with the student(s).
