The main goal of this project is to conduct a solar heating simulation of the MPD building. Analysis should include the influence of solar heating on the temperature stability of MPD equipment. The student will take a part in the works of the engineering support group of MPD. Moreover, students will get the general idea of the entire NICA-MPD-Platform project and temperature stability issues.
Tasks
• get acquainted with the basic technical documentation of the NICA-MPD-Hall
• prepare a geometry model MPD-Hall
• conduct a heat transfer simulation for the solar heating
• carry out the analysis of the results
• prepare the final report
• prepare the final presentation
Preliminary schedule by topics/tasks
The expected project duration is 4-6 weeks.
The work schedule will be agreed upon with the student(s)
Required skills
English: level B2
Acquired skills and experience
The student(s) will be able to:
• interpret technical documentation
• use Autodesk Inventor Pro to create simple 3D geometry
• use Autodesk CFD to conduct heat transfer and gas flow simulations
• compile formal technical documentation
• make a simple engineering drawing
